After you decide to work from home, it has to be a full time venture. Just because your business is in your home, this does not mean, or allow you to believe, you can work part time. Evenutally, as you gain more knowledge of how an affiliate marketing home business works, you will want to increase your affiliate marketing sales by signing up with other affiliate marketing programs. A lot of affiliate marketers will have more than one website and be registered with other affiliate programs. Perhaps you are interested in make-up or health products. These niches are great topics for affiliate website programs. Through your blog or website, it is important to write everyday about these niches to increase your affiliate marketing sales.
The best thing about earning money through affiliate marketing programs is, they cost you nothing. These programs are free to join which means you do not have to invest any money at all. As an affiliate marketer, you and you alone, are the one who will make it work. This means you have to devise a marketing strategy that works best for you. In order for your blog or website to be seen by the masses, you can add the link to your email signature line, add it to the signature line on popular forums to visit and write on, talk about your business on popular social networking websites too. These are but only some ways to market and make money effectively with your affiliate marketing home business.

There are many strategies to making your affiliate business work. The key is in the way you market it. SEO is the best method around for promoting any type of business. By optimizing your website and gathering quality back links you will be well on your way to making a huge affiliate income.

SEO Tips - Search Engine Optimization at Its Best

Many marketers use SEO or search engine optimization to get their business website included and ranked high in search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. It does not take intensive Corporate training to do this either. Just following some simple SEO tips such as those below will help.

Optimize your website with long tailed keywords. What are long tailed keywords? Keywords are simply the search word or phrase that a user will type into the search bar of their favorite search engine to find what they are looking for. Long tailed keywords are an extension of these keywords that do not have as much competition as broader keywords. For example: "apple scented candles"versus "candles".

There is too much competition for the keyword candles and to try and get ranked for this keyword would prove to be a long and trying battle for most marketers. By targeted the long tailed keyword phrases, you are cutting down your competition and making it easier to get your website displayed for the keyword you are targeting.

Another way to utilize SEO is to accumulate quality back links. These are simply other "authority"sites placing a link back to your link on their pages. This tells search engines that they consider your site important enough to show to their readers. Authority websites already have a high rank so by getting a back link from them to your site, it increases your chances of getting indexed and ranked higher quicker.

The last thing to consider when using search engine optimization is to forget "blackhat SEO methods"which try to trick the system into getting indexed and ranked quicker. You might get placed on the first page of Google through black hat methods, but you will get caught, removed and even banned altogether so it is not a good idea to use these types of methods when using SEO for gaining traffic to your sites.

7 Ways To Effectively Use Flickr to Increase Your Local Business

One of, if not the most popular websites for video and photo sharing is Flickr, and it is also well indexed. When local businesses use this service they will be able to share images that can help to increase their brand online and also greatly improve their visibility on search engines. The end result will likely be more traffic going to your website. Here are seven ways you can effectively use Flickr to increase your local business.

Upload quality images. If you want to capture your audience’s attention then you must ensure that your images are of good quality. People will not give a second glance to poor images. So whether it be photos, logos, banners, or product images, make sure they are of good quality.

Use proper titles. For every image uploaded, it is important that it be given a title that is not only catchy, keyword rich, strong, but also descriptive. This aids in increasing its visibility on search engines.

Make sure descriptions are well written. Descriptions should centre on the benefits to users. Think about the reasons why users should buy your product or use your service and use that to write the description.

Include hyperlinks. When you write the description you should put at least one link in them that is relevant to a particular page on your website.

Use local search keywords. These keywords will be those of the names of the local communities that are being targeted. Use these keywords in the descriptions, links, and titles.

Tag every image. Each image you upload should be tagged with keywords that users commonly use to do their search. Place names are preferable here.

Join Flickr Groups. Connect with people in your area of operations by becoming a part of relevant groups. You can post your images and get feedback also you can get an idea of what people are looking for.

Drive SEO Using Press Releases

These days the more traditional forms of news media has seen their influence and popularity diminished with the development of the Internet. One form of tradition media that has found itself a new purpose on the Internet is Press Releases and it is even more pronounced as a SEO tool.

People are now unwilling to wait until a certain time of day, or for it to come through a particular vehicle, to get information about available products and services, and other items of interest. They want to know, so they go online to find out what they want. Often they will use the more popular search engines to search for what they want. So if a company can get their information at the top of search results, they will benefit greatly.

Press releases are great for driving your SEO program. They do this by providing what is referred to as direct to consumer releases. These serve to relay information that is important for the consumer and the general public in the form of online content.

To design a press release to be used as part of a SEO program will require some degree of knowhow and expertise, not to mention an understanding of what this entails from a hr point of view, it also may be worth investing in some hr management software. The release will have to be written with certain keywords or phrases that are relevant to the service, product, or organisation. When this is done the consumer is able to see the connection between the information and what they are looking for.

It is best to make sure that a press release is very relevant, not only to the targeted audience but also to journalists. This is because if they are well written they will be considered newsworthy and not just another promotional piece.

Always keep in mind that media relations is still a key part of the marketing process. So any story that is featured by any news outlet will give that story some degree of credibility.

Using Emails To Increase Your Web Traffic

There are many ways for you to increase your website’s traffic, but most of these ways cost more money than the average business wants to spend. To keep costs down, the cheapest (and certainly free) way increase hits is through e-mails.

Not only is sending e-mails cheap, but it is also incredibly simple and not at all time consuming. This makes e-mailing the perfect marketing tool.

To begin with, when you are sending mass e-mails, many of the receivers will believe that were just sent a virus and then quickly delete. To avoid this, try personalizing your emails so that they do not contain any virus-flags.

With all of your e-mails, it is a good idea to request a real-time report. This will give you a clear idea of who opened your letter and who did not. Once you have determined who opened your message, you can use follow-up e-mails to those who seem interested, perhaps including a coupon or discount to products for sale.

Also, have an incentive for customers to invite their friends to visit. For example, if one person invites ten others, they receive a percentage reduction on their next sale. This will increase your website’s traffic through the age-old technique of “Word-Of-Mouth”. One person tells ten, ten tell twenty, and so forth.

Also, your real-time report will determine who forwarded your original message. With that, you can send follow-up e-mails to the people that received the forwarded message. Try offering more incentives to those who forward messages.

When dealing with incentives, try to be as creative as possible. Do not just simply offer them a discount or a gift-with-purchase. Use your imagination and try to create incentives that other similar web sites are not. This way, you will see in large increase of traffic on your web site.
On another note I want to ask you all for a bit of help, a friend of mine has recently started an online arts and crafts business and was looking for ways to keep up with her contacts Since she began her business, her mailing list has gotten to an unmanagebale point and she has been looking into email marketing, does anyone know a good site who do this for online businesses for a good price?

Iraq Continued

Allow your mind to drift back a few years, to just before the start of the <country-region />Iraq</place /></country-region /> war: remember how a reasonable number of British people wanted it to happen, for the good of law and order, for the sake of what’s right; remember the rage even before that, after September 11th. Remember looking someone in the eye as their gaze raised off their newspaper: “It’s good we’re going to war,” I recall people saying with vigor, staring meanly, as if they were the one giving that final dark order. “It’s the right thing to do–”

Fast forward to the present day and things have taken a strange, some might even say bizarre twist; a portion of those people who held the papers and gazed with menace, thoughts of war and justice being served running through their minds, are now saying: “It was wrong, we shouldn’t have gone to war, too many people are being killed. It’s awful. Bring our lads home."

And it is, of course, undisputably terrible. So I wonder what a large proportion of the country thought was going to happen when we went to war? I don’t mean to mock but war, by definition, is generally all out, no-holds barred action: that action takes on many dynamics, but all of these dynamics result in the same awful ending: people die on both sides. That’s the way it goes when the gloves are off.

Now, the biggest problem I have is this: I don’t think that every single Brit really cares that there were no weapons of mass destruction. Some people have always liked the idea of squashing a bug out just because it is there—that it causes a danger or not is close to insignificant. It’s almost a reflex action, albeit it on an international level.

I don’t mean to point the finger at the British. It is a small minority who wanted war whatever the cost. But I do think that now some of us have what we wanted we have to live with it. Start looking at what we believed in, and maybe once we’ve accepted that we can move on.

As a side note I have just heard back from those Jobs in secondary education that I applied for last week. With short tail keywords there are usually about three words in all. For long tail keywords what you will find is closer to six words being used. Possibly the more widely used by searchers when searching, is the long tail. The more popular of the two is considered to be short tail. Here are some reasons why long tail SEO keywords work.

Many people who go online to do a search are usually very clear and specific in their search methods. This is because they want to save time and effort finding information and to achieve this they use a long phrase for each search.

Because searchers are using long phrases with specific keywords then it is prudent that you use these same long tail keywords when developing and maintaining your websites.

These kinds of keywords tend to bring much more visitors to your website than what would be had if you used short tail keywords. If your aim is to get Internet users to be directed to your website then do not generalise the keywords you use. This is because when a search is done via a search engine it is normally very specific and detailed. Your website must make use of long tail keywords along with short tail ones.

One of the amazing things with using long tail keywords is that not too much research is needed to come up with them. You can come up with a series of such keywords to use in all your online materials. The variation can work to bring your website a lot of traffic and conversions. This type of keywords tends to read naturally and is not out of place in your websites content.

It is best to use long tail keywords in your SEO efforts as the search engine crawlers will pick them up quicker. Onto a bit of work related news, I have finally finished all the copy for the laser tattoo removal manchester webpage. There are many ways this can be done but one of the lesser used methods is organic search engine optimization.

This type of search engine optimization has its own set of advantages over other types of online advertising methods. Here are a few of them.

More clicks received

There are many studies that show that when people do a search they have a tendency to not to click on those paid search advertisements. They are also more likely to click on the organic search results. In fact one particular study estimated that people doing searches are more likely to go for the organic search results than any other type of paid result.

Trust level

With organic search engine optimization the trust level is a lot greater than what is seen for paid results. In fact studies shown that there are many people who think of paid search results as a nuisance. There are studies that show that close to 67% of people who are searching via search engines do not trust paid listings and close to 30% of them report being annoyed by them.

Type of Visitors

When you optimise for organic searches he results that are returned tend to be viewed as not skewed towards a particular type of visitor. Thus the visitors received will be a lot more valuable which translates into an increased conversion rate or rate at which action is taken at a website.

Organic search engine optimization tends to yield better results than the normal methods used to get good search results. It is effective in bring the kind of visitors to your website that are more likely to take some form of action which may result in increased earnings or popularity.

Some exhilarating news for you all, I was talking to my brother the other night and he has just got a lovely new post at an hr software company. If you are looking into employing the tactics of SEO then you should definitely look into the possibility of article writing just like all of the other methods. Google picked it up and has been using the updated one for a week. Now I check the SERPS it has reverted back to the old page title even though I didn't make a modification back to the old title. I cleared all cache etc, but no go.

Does Google do that sometimes, and if so, why? Well the answer is they have multiple datacenters. Each data center has a different data age...one will see your new page title before the next does.

You can see some variances across datacenters by using a tool like http://dccheck.com/

Where there are also updates sometimes those sorts of tools let you see what is changing, though search result reading requires a good amount of practice and knowing a few keywords (and the sites that rank for them) quite well.

Then I noticed that when the old page titles came back we also de-progressed to the same SERPS as before losing a couple of positions on some keywords.

Is this normal? What does this indicate? Google is making changes to the Irish main DC or what is it? Should I expect the proper DC to come back online with the improved SERPS again or..?

It turned out I was seeing data from different data centers. I would not try to read anything into beyond noting that you are seeing 2 different data centers with different data on them. The algorithms and data sets are constantly changing, so I can't say everything will be the exact same...but generally over time they all typically end up trending in the same directions.

If you hold your mouse over the "Cached" link in the Google serps you'll see in your status bar at the bottom left of your browser just where Google is giving you that result from. So I just did it and they're giving me results from 216.239.59.132. Another time it might be from another datacenter. I make notes on which datacenter I found a certain result in if I'm tracking a site. Hope that helps a tiny bit otherwise if you want to speed up the whole process look into hiring a link building services, by increasing the link the Google bot will visit more often.

Why SEO as a marketing technique is so good.

We spend a fair amount of time talking about techniques for SEO and how things work within the engines. What I would like to take a moment to do is discuss why SEO is so useful as a marketing tool.

I think that for me the main reason that organically optimising your business to be found on the internet is so powerful, is that you are only paying to be found by people actually looking for what you sell.

If you place an advert for printed material in the newspapers, or on the television, hundreds of people who don’t want anything printed will see the advert. You are having to pay to show your advert to people that have no interest in printing and are never going to buy from you.

However, if you spend money budgeting to have the term banner stands optimised, then everytime some searches for banner stands you will be found. Not only that, the people that have found are not only searching for printed material, they are specifically searching for banner stands, so the likely hood of them converting into customers are incredibly high. So it is the targeted nature of the money spend that makes it powerful.

The other thing is volume of traffic. On average, just under five thousand people a day search on the term pet insurance. As such, if you are selling pet insurance, and you appear in the top of the listings for pet insurance, you are quite likely to get a huge amount of visitors to your website and thus make a lot of money of the back of that.

If you are reading this you probably already have an understanding of all this, so perhaps I am preaching to the converted a little. Optimise your website, in the long term it is more than worth while.

How to avoid black hat SEO

Most people outside of the SEO world think that it is a some kind of magic secret art form, and in a way it is even though there are 1001 people out there giving out free information it still remains a fairly secretive art.

Now this does not help if you are looking to hire a SEO to help out your business. Exspecaily when the scarey term Black hat SEO pops up. Now The first thing that you need to know is that this is not a black and white world. In real terms all effective SEO fall into the grey area between the two it's not like some disney film where you have the good white guys and the evil guys all dressed up in black so they are easily reconisable.

When you say you want to avoid a black hat SEO or that you are looking to hire a white hat SEO what you are actually looking for is someone who isn't going to get you in trouble with the search engines, whilst alos being effective at there job. Most effective SEO at some point have dabbled in the dark arts, this is very useful so they know what not to do and what works.

These are my tick list to hire some one who is white hat enought not to get you in trouble.

Do they they use press releases
On of the most ligitimate white hat ways of getting links is to use press releases, by asking a prospective SEO company if they use these will enable you to figure out how good they are a viral link building. Don't just ask them if they use them, ask them for a example of success campaign. Then search for some of the press releases. A good press release can get you link from some of the most trusted and most visted news websites on the web.

Do they want you to link back to their website
Never trust a SEO who want to you to place a link back to there website on your site. It is a common trick for SEO company to get clients off the back of there site being ranking in the search engines and then use there client to just improv their ranking. You only want to link out to website that are trusted and relevant within your field, and you definately don't want to send a message to the search engines saying you are assoicated with a SEO company.

Talk to a client of their which is over one year old.
You want to talk to clients fo the website, make sure that the client is over one year old at least this will show that what they have done has lasted a period of time and they haven't been kick out for doing anything dodgy. It's better if you can get a two or three yeat old client or even talk to one or two. Then check the ranking for yourself, and compare they ranking to that of other companies within their field.
It's not easy to pick the SEO who right for you, but if you check out these three things your chances are much higher, goof luck.

Here at SEO research we have started to play around with a couple of other pages purely on the onsite optimisation stuff have a quick look and see what you think. We spoke last time about how directory entrys can be integral to your seo campaign, well I just found a new possiblity for you.
Webhostinggeeks has a free directory at the back. It is human edited, and you can submit for nothing, however you do have to provide a reciprical link back to them with the anchor text Best Web Hosting Review as so. Recipricol linking isn't nessasarily the way forward, and so I'm not sure how useful this is - unless they allow you link from a different site. The networks can currently be divided into four groups:

Lens

Bookmarks

Blogs

Friend networks (e.g. facebook, myspace etc.)

In this article we will be concentrating on concentrating on lens.

Description

A ‘lens’ is a singular page grouping information of a single kind all in one space. The most famous of these is Wikipedia, but it is far from the only one. Since Wikipedia has effectively given itself no follows, for our purposes it has become a little redundant. However the Wiki’s should not be discarded out of hand! There are many wiki style social networks waiting to harnessed and tapped into. For example – the home star runner wiki which doesn’t have a no follow in the source. For us the interesting thing is that they can be edited by anyone.

Lens Creation

This brings me to the creation of lens. Since anyone can create a lens, and they are sometimes connected to sites that are both trusted and have reasonable page rank, these are a gold mine waiting to be mined. Like gold however, the difficulty I think is in finding the good lens sites in the first place.

I have begun experimenting with this, and have already discarded a score of lens sites that initially seemed promising. I have however found some sites that are worth using and have done so. I have created the following lens:

http://h2obeta.law.harvard.edu/171421

http://hubpages.com/hub/Sell_your_house_yourself

http://hubpages.com/hub/cosmetic_surgery_uk

http://hubpages.com/hub/Dr_Patrick_Bowler

http://www.squidoo.com/firsthips/

http://hubpages.com/hub/vending_machine

http://www.squidoo.com/horseinsurance/

http://hubpages.com/hub/Forfront

Benefits

If you look at the lens, you’ll see the real beauty in using them in this way. Due to the fact that the lens can be about anything that you are interested in, you can create lens that are specifically tailored to the niche market that you want your links to go into. I’m particularly pleased with the forfront page. Now while I work alongside forfront, they don’t pay me for optimisation or link building... so why have I included them in my lens making? This site has allowed me to send links out to multiple clients of mine because they are also clients of forfronts. I have links to stoneways, coffee point and firsthips by creating only one lens.

I genuinely feel that the making of a good lens adds value to the internet, giving genuinely useful information as well as producing quality links.

While these links are ‘free’, the cost of them lies in the time you must spend to set them up. Taking 10minutes to make a lens will have it posted on the internet, but it will provide no value, have very little substance and will ultimately be removed by the host site as and when they realise how little value it adds to the site. It is well worth allowing sufficient time to create the lens you make to ensure that it really does provide a quality page. Googlebot is a highly intelligent technology that keeps its watch on all information it could get from the sites it crawls. It does not only hold information on your site’s contents but also has a way to know if a site’s owner is the same with the other. If it is, Google reduces the effect of that particular inbound link to your site. A true waste of precious link building effort. Luckily, there is an easy way to prevent this. Each time a site owner registers a new domain name, the information he provides to the domain registrar is attached to the domain name for identification. This is called the domain’s WHOIS information and is available for the public to view. In order to avoid Google from knowing your site’s ownership is to fake your site’s WHOIS information. Instead of registering all your domains into one account name, try to register each one of it into different names. This way when Google tries to take a peek on your domains’ WHOIS, it will see different registrants and will treat all your inbound links valid and your site will be credited extra points for your effort.

Are We Helping Our Customers Spend More on Your Site?

Isn’t it disappointing whenever visitors, after taking forever checking our inventory suddenly leave our site without buying one of our products or services? These type of visitors are either uninterested or they simply came across something they don’t like along the way. Think how much sales we are wasting just because of a simple feature we forgot (or simply neglected) to implement. Are we giving enough hand to help potential buyers complete a sale?

Take Matt’s case in his article regarding his suggestion on tweaks Amazon needs to make. Matt is a frequent buyer and buys books compulsively (sorry Matt, I just copied what you said.) But he should have bought more if Amazon only allowed him to. They might be blogs, site reviews, product reviews, forums, chats and other publicly-available information exchanges. For example, perhaps you would like people who type YourCompanyName.Biz to have the same chance of finding you as the ones who type YourCompanyName.Com.

A common SEO mistake, however, is to have a copy of the website at each location. Search engines, however, don’t index websites; they index URLs. This means that your copies will be competing against one another, and may even be penalized for duplicate content.

Another problem with duplicate content is that it makes it very cumbersome to make changes, since each page will require its own updates.

A far better solution is to focus your SEO efforts on one single URL, and using a 301 direct to send visitors (and search engine spiders) who type in a different URL to your main site.

Google, at least, handles 301 redirects very well. It even transfers the Page Rank bonuses from links to the redirected URLs to the main website.

301 redirects keep the internet free of confusing duplicate content, while allowing you to help your visitors find your company with the URLs that make sense for your business.
This article was submitted by Abigail Andrews, she's also a author on GlitsyDitszy . This is true, good relevant content will bring extra traffic to your website for two reasons:
1. Large website do better in the search engines

The search engines give a point of page rank to every web page it indexes, so the more pages that you have indexed the more influence yours link have and this ultimately has a effect on your ranking.
2. The more content the more search terms you can be found on.

If you add articles to your website on topics that are relevant, then you can attract visitors who will be searching on those topics and high chance they will also be interested in your main website.
As part of the service a complimentary relevant website to your will be built and a ghostwriter is hired to publish two articles a month.
Adding a site map to your site.

All of the search engines suggest that you add a site map your website in order to help them index your entire site. All a site map is a page with links to every page on your website, group into categories, so people can see at a glance everything that is available. It helps them to index the site completely. This is a very good idea for dynamically created websites since it means that when you add new content the search engine can always pick it up quickly.
Keeping content fresh

Google has started to work into it’s algorithm a history of your website, meaning that it look at a number of different factors firstly how many links your website is gaining and how many links your website is losing. If you website has start to slowly loose link that search engines will start to believe that the content of your website is stale.
Another consideration is how lately the content changed on your website. If you have not change your content in the last 9 months then they is a good chance that you will not be able to get the ranking you deserve. I suggest that you update your optimised pages at least every 6 months.

This article was written by Alexander Sales. And with rel=”nofollow” added into many blogs these days, posting com<personname />Me</personname />Nts on blogs doesn’t necessarily get you anywhere with your linking strategy. So the best incoming link is a one-way link to your site. These are considered the most natural and the most difficult to get.

You get one way links by placing a link in the resource box of an article you sent to other website owners or to article directories. You can also get one way links from your signature in a forum post. And, of course people can stumble upon your site, love it, find it useful, and post a link on their site.

Anchor Text – Your anchor text (the words that are hyperlinked) tells the search engines what your site is about. Your incoming anchor text should be different for each page and so<personname />Me</personname />Ti<personname />Me</personname />S you should even choose different anchor text when linking to the sa<personname />Me</personname /> Page. Sometimes it is even profitable to purchase links, but make sure that you take a good look at the web site before purchasing them.

The author of this post is Kerry Fletcher, she is a regular contibutor to Pathetic Cosmetic gossip and beauty news and Webmasters Desk.
Kerry is a noted specialist on the topic of omnilux light treatment.

Getting Your New Site Crawled

So you’ve just built a new site but now you’re wondering how to get the search engine spiders and the infamous Googlebot out to crawl your site. The site map pages index1.Htm, index2.Htm, etc. Googlebot likes index pages and gives more weight to pages with the word index in them I was checking through the backlinks to someone elses website and I came across a link that I also had a directory in, Limey Search now the think that shocked me was they ahd added their link into the wrong page that was indexed and me on the right page wasn't indexed. So that whole thing kind of confused me.

This is the page that I think should be indexed, here but I can't figure out why it isn't.

Good news on the work front.
Carol has completely redesigned the glycolic acid peel uk part

Using Squidoo for Link building.

Here is another useful link building tip. The website www.Squidoo.Com, allow users to create a lens which is basically a page that you ahve complete control over. This works much in the same ways as blog do, howefver it is a very trusted site and you can create pages very aptly and honestly. For example mhere is a page I have created about my SEO company :
Edit optimisation page and
Now this page is completely ligitatment, the only thing I haven't don't is listed my clients on the site, I decided not to do that because, it is slightly dangeous in my eyes to have anyone knwo that, competitors or search engines. I plan to make a squidoo page for every client or thing I relevate to my client.
Finally we have had progress with the website.
Terry has finally redesigned the eyelid surgery part

Rubiish support

God I'm having trouble with a job I have outsources to india. They have put together filters to find paid for links and nullify their beneficial effect on ranking. So with this in mind is thier anything people selling textlinks can do to keep this beneficial effect?

So there are some simple things that could lower the chances the link would fire off this filter, to start with remove any sponsored links' or advertisements' captions that go about the links. Also placing them in blocks of text or within the navigation, at least ry to avoid sticking them in a easily identifiy able chunk.

It is very hard to figure out the return on investiment with links, when I brought link to improve search engine ranking I don't opt for any that have ongoing payment. You have to wait upto 6 months before you know if it was worth it. There are a lot of other filter about, like links growing stale over time. What ever is true, Webmasters are goign to have a lot harder time convincing people to pay for their links!

----off topic---
Here's some groovy stuff I found whilst surfing. So in theory you write an article add a link to your website and then other people place the article on their website for all their visitors to see. So not only do you get a one-way inbound links on very relevant pages, and you also get you website plugged on another website.

Which sounds perfect what with all the rumour that reciprocal linking no longer works.

I'm am not that certain though, that this is really such a god send. Article marketing in my humble opinion is very hard work.

For example how easy would it be to get inbound links to help you in the search engines. What about the duplicate filter? Well, because the article remains the same it will alway be limited by the duplication filter, so you can have the article publish on a thosand websites, you will only get credit for one and they might not even use your link.

So thiers a fairly high chance you won't get any links back at all.

"But articles themselves will bring you traffic in themselves" I hear you say! Maybe. To make webmasters want to publish your article they have to be done in a certain way. The main reason most people don't get their articles published is because they are adverts not articles, they write the articles just to plug their product. Webmaster rarely want to put these adverts on their site for free. For the site to want to publish your article it has to be entertaining or informative. But if you write a informative/entertaining piece that is not made to advertise, the reader usually won't have any good incentive to go to your site.

Usually webmasters publish article to make their site better rather than to send people away.

I predict 4 months down the line, most people will be bored of article submission after seeing very little results.
Here is some other groovy sites I found by reading other blogs. He's a shamless plug for a company that we work with coffee vending machines. The agrument seem to go on for ages going around in circles mainly because chrishirst refused to back up his point with any real evidence. He totally believed that:

At the end of the day PR as shown on the toolbar is of NO use for gaining useful convertable rankings.

You can read the thread here, you can see why I didn't want to quit. The line of though was maddening, even though I (nixies) had all cited all my evidence he still refused to admit that he may be wrong.

The discussion was stuck on this point; He could not get his head around how the equation only looked at incoming links how the outgoing links could reduce the amount of Page Rank you have.

We beat around the bush for a long time, I tried to get make him understand that the formula was done from scratch each time, and it did not need to be minus in the equation.

NO I understand that you need to agree on these points on how the Page Rank calculation works:

The green bar shown on the toolbar is just a label given to a page depending on the group that the actual page rank falls into.

Each time the calculation is done it is done from scratch; no prior Page rank is worked in the equation.

The calculation is done for each individual page not site.

The equation is repeated multiple times.

This is how I like to think of the calulation. This is a simplification (also if you look at the actual equation the specifics are wrong, it designed to make it easier to understand like went you find out that everythign you learnt in GCSE physic was all a lie when you do A Level Physic).

Google assigns each indexed page a value of 1; part of this value is given as a vote which is divided between all of the pages that it links to. So that gives you a new value. Now this is the part that most people understand, pagerank is made up of vote from your inbound links.

This is where it gets tricky, the calculation is then repeated starting with the new values, so that the pages that have gained from the pervious calculation have more to vote. The equation is done over and over again. So because your vote is devided between the pages that you have links to, if you give all your vote to pages that link back to you on the next vote (calulation) you are going to get more back than if you have linked elsewhere.

And this is the main point if you link out of your site, to a site that does not link back. The pagerank is not coming back to your site so you are going to drain/leak/lose pagerank.

How much effect does page rank have on your sites ranking? That is the million dollar question.

Last but not least some groovy sites I stumbled across. Are you a fan of golf try out this poor internet golf game. Every fancied getting some plastic surgery done? The true challenge for search engines in the future is how to incorporate web searcher input and preferences into their ranking algorithms."

It does make sense with what google releasing google anayltics for free. it's a fantasic reporting tool, but it gives google pretty much all your traffic information.

Now if they can get enought of this type of information, it could massively alter the way they calulate the ranking.

These are some things that I think they will soon be capable to do quite effieciently.

1. Identify irreleval links: basically if a link is never clicked on, you can persume it is just their for the search engines benefit.

2. Identify spammy pages: If someone goes to a page and then immediately click the back button. Then you can persume that is a vote agaisnt that page.

It's not all that easy though since they still have to sort out some issues mainly google will have huge black spots in it's research, google analytics and toolbar will still only cover a small fraction of the web.
